Max brings a considerable sense of family heritage and pride to his company leadership position. He is a loyal, conscientious and hard-working individual who has a reputation for an ethical and high-quality work standard and a “never say die” attitude towards the inevitable setbacks experienced in life and business.
Over the years, Max has earned numerous professional designations, including the following:
- Licensed Plumbing Contractor
- Licensed Gasfitter
- Accredited Waterwise Plumber
- Certified for EnviroWest Sustainability in Plumbing
- Licensed for Asbestos Handling & Disposal
- He is passionate about his home town and the Hills, the iconic business he inherited, the plumbing industry in general and apprenticeship training in particular.
Max joined the workforce in 1966 as an apprentice plumber working for the Public Works Department until the end of the third year of his five-year apprenticeship. He then transferred to complete his apprenticeship and work for the family plumbing business. He was made partner at age 25.
Initially Max served as Manager of the Commercial Plumbing Division where some of his earliest responsibilities include project management of plumbing and drainage works associated with construction of Kalamunda’s original Coles Supermarket, as well as the major upgrade and redevelopment of Carmel Adventist College secondary school, Walliston Primary Upper–School addition, the unique (at the time) Chalet Rigi Restaurant in Piesse Brook, Sanitarium Bakehouse in Vic Park, and a major renovation of the historic Kalamunda Hotel.
As commercial development of the Kalamunda region started to wind down, Max shifted his focus to commercial plumbing contract development and maintenance work, including that performed on government buildings in the Swan Education District and for Homes West.
In the early ‘90’s Max recognised a need for a “go to” company specialising in hot water installation, service, and repairs to serve home owners throughout the Kalamunda and Hills regions. That resulted in several key appointments for sales and service work by such leading manufacturers as Solahart, Rheem, Vulcan, Edwards, and Rinnai. In 2015 Kalamunda Plumbing teamed up with Solargain.
As a result of Max’s perseverance and guidance over the past 20+ years, Kalamunda Plumbing has evolved into one of the most diverse maintenance plumbing businesses in the greater Perth Hills metropolitan area; certainly here in the North-Eastern and Hills region.
