Heat pumps are an eco friendly type of hot water system that are on a par with solar water heaters
for energy efficiency.
The Heat Pump principle is simple and uses advanced refrigeration technology to extract latent energy from the air that is converted into useful heat for the purpose of heating water and the good news is, they don't need solar panels.
With the recent inclusion of Heat Pumps in the Federal Government's Solar Rebate, replacing your electric storage HWS with an energy saving Heat Pump has never been cheaper and could ultimately cost as little as $1,990 plus installation, after Zone 3 REC's and redemption of the $600 Federal Government Solar Rebate - conditions apply*.
So give Max and Sylvia a call today and find out how easy it is to have a Heat Pump installed at your home and start saving on your hot water bills.
10 famous excuses
for not saving with solar
- We'd love a Solar Hot Water System but the initial cost is so high.
Not so. These days, with government incentives and solar rebates a Solar HWS costs only a fraction more than an electric or gas water heater.
- We've heard that Solar Hot Water Systems don't last very long.
This isn't true anymore. Over the years manufacturers of Solar HWS have strived to improve the efficiency and longevity of their systems using world class technology and manufacturing methods. Most Solar HWS last well in excess of 15 years, with the average lifespan around the 18 year mark (nearly double that of normal electric and gas HWS).
- Have they really got the technology right yet? Maybe we should wait.
The longer you wait, the more you will pay in power or energy bills. University studies verify solar water heating as a proven and efficient technology. That's why both the State and Federal Governments have introduced substantial incentives to encourage the installation of Solar Water Heaters.
- But doesn't the booster cost a lot to run.
Not true. Even on a mild day, the solar collectors are contributing enough "solar gain" to take the chill off the water and may even be enough to contribute close to double the daytime temperature and so on those days when there is insufficient solar energy, your Solar HWS will only need a "top-up" from the electric or gas booster. Therefore over the course of a full year, you will normally get between 60% - 80% of your hot water needs free from the sun. You won't get that from a gas or electric water heater.
- We don't want to have to turn the booster on and off to get hot water in winter.
No problem. You have the option of fitting an "on-demand" continuous flow gas booster, or a Booster-Timer that will ensuite you have total control of your electric booster at all timer. Either option will ensuite that you have plenty of hot water on tap when you want it.
- We know a solar water heater will save us money, but we have heard that it will take forever to pay for itself.
Wrong. Based on conservative assumptions for a flamily of two adults and two teenagers, the payback peiord to cover the additional cost of a solar hot water system
over that of a gas or elec tric unit can be as short as three to five years.
- We don't want a big storage tank on our roof.
No everyone does. With a modern Split Solar Hot Water System, only the low profile solar collectors go on your roof with the electric or gass boosted storage tank installed at ground level. And with a Heat Pump Solar Hot Water System, there are no solar collectors at all.
- But the tank doesn't look as though it would hold enough hot water for our family.
Looks can be deceiving. Solar HWS come in a whole range of tank sizes, incl not only 160 litres, but also 180L, 250L, 300L, 315L and 330L. And with the option of continuous flow gas boosting, even the smallest tank will provide stacks of hot water.
- We'd love to upgrade to a Solar Hot Water System but we need hot water now and we've heard they take a few days to install.
Not exactly. Kalamunda Plumbing & Hot Water and their Team of Hot Water Specialists are renowned for providing prompt, hassle free service and wherever possible, will strive to have their clients back in hot water within 24 hrs.
- Are they really that environmentally friendly?
Absolutely. Compared to traditional electric and gas water heaters, a modern Solar Hot Water System will help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by around 3 - 4 tonnes per annum, which is similar emission to an evarage medium sized motor car. By fitting a Solar Hot Water System you can take pride in doing something positive to help and save our envrionment for the benefit of future generations.
